Preshow - I wanted a neighborhood sounding atmosphere to tie into the opening number "Neighborhood". Sounds were added to sound like they were playing down the street from a nearby apartment.

Smokey Joe's Description:
"Leiber and Stoller, as much as anyone, virtually invented rock 'n' roll, and now their songs provide the basis for an electrifying entertainment that illuminates a golden age of American culture. In an idealized '50's setting, the classic themes of love won, lost and imagined blend with hilarious set-pieces and slice-of-life emotions. " - Rodgers and Hammerstein (www.rnh.com)
As a designer, I created sound effects and voice-overs that would contribute to the 50's style of the show. The production also called for a live band, and I was in charge of choosing the microphones and tuning each to fit the sound and style of the show.
This show was also run on a Dante Digital System - a system that had not been used in the venue until this production. I was in charge of installing and troubleshooting an entirely new sound system

Intermission - By intermission, the show has progressed to a city style of feel, so I wanted a city atmosphere with coffee shop jazz coming from the distance.
Little Egypt Voice Over - Little Egypt a song about a carnival sideshow, so I wanted a Carnival sound while still being clear over the band. Voiceover work by Bradley Veith.
